A Whole Lot of Nothing...

Friday was most definitely a girly pampering day.  My mom and I were up early so we left to go get our nails done.  We stopped for coffee at La Barioche and had pastry.  Not sure how long we sat there, but it was a nice little stop.  I could have sat there all day reading and drinking some yummy coffee.

Around 9am or so we made our way over to the day spa and began the pampering.  We each got a manicure and pedicure.  Then, not being entirely satisfied with only that, we decided to get facials too.  It was kind of cool since they put us in the same room.  It wasn't until about lunch time that we were finished and left.  Dad was at the gym so we wandered down a shop or two and had lunch at our coffee shop.  It wasn't anything special, just some bruchetta.

The cool thing about the pampering day is that I met this nail lady who makes these really awesome bags.  They're about 90,000 pesos (45ish dollars) but I really love them!  And I don't mind paying a little more for something I know is handmade by a local.  So I told her to call my mom's cell phone when she next went into work so I could buy one! Exciting stuff :)

Our second time in the coffee shop was less than amusing.  There were a group of ladies sitting at the front of the shop speaking very loudly...in English.  Friggin' Americans.  Can't you cut the rest of us some slack?  I'm tired of being stereotyped like you just because you have some sort of inability to be quiet or subdued.  Just because most people can't understand your conversation doesn't mean they want to hear it.  Truth is, other women at the table were just fine, it was just this one blonde middle aged woman who was obnoxious.  Ugh.  *ahem*..... moving on....

Friday afternoon/evening was really great just because it was typical of a Holt family night.  After my workout and laying around in the afternoon, my mom and I went to get a few things from the store.  Upon our return there was music playing in the house and dad had begun cooking.  One thing I really love about my family are the family cooking nights.  Everyone is always doing something and it is nearly always fun.  I think its really sad when I don't see other families doing the same thing.  It bothers me on a pretty deep level.  We stayed up late talking about politics and drinking wine.  Good day.

Saturday isn't much to talk about.  I spent most of the day on my butt watching the US Open.  That was really it.  And it was great.

  1. I looooove those nights. They are the heart and soul of Holt family time. Its the one thing that we all participate in and the one thing I miss doing with all you guys! It either leads to good conversations at the end of the night, goofy behavior, games, movie nights, ect.
